Jaemi Theatre Company was founded in 2025 by Youri Kim and Juyoung Koh. Despite DC being one of the largest theater markets in the country, no company was specifically AAPI led. Jaemi was built to close that gap: to develop and stage interdisciplinary new work rooted in diasporic imagination and radical storytelling.
Our inaugural production, BAAL, opened at the Atlas Performing Arts Center in March 2026 to a sold out house and closed in the black, with 10 artists compensated at industry standard stipends.
Everything we run is open to anyone who identifies as Asian, Asian American, or Pacific Islander. We do not ask for proof, for generation, or for degree of connection. If you say you are, you are.
